Peter Schmidt founded Peter Schmidt Studios (now Peter Schmidt Group) in 1972. Since its sale to BBDO in 2006, he has worked with a small team in Hamburg. By now active in many areas of design (including stage, product, logo and corporate design, as well as architecture, exhibitions and books), Schmidt established his international reputation primarily through packaging design. Schmidt’s packaging portfolio currently includes customers such as Michalsky, Strellson and Idee Kaffee. The bottle he designed for Jil Sander’s perfume “Woman Pure” has featured as a temporary exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Peter Schmidt has been awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit, and the city of Hamburg has bestowed the honorary title of ‘Professor’ on him for his work as a designer.
